But the aim of the game is to make money - a profit. It doesn't follow that you have to increase passenger numbers continually to make one. Its the old quality rather than quantity argument. Undoubtedly the current owners have driven up the quality and maybe, just maybe, aren't too bothered about absolute passenger numbers.
Those who rant about surly rude staff have clearly not been through the Airport in the last year or two, or have a particular axe to grind. Yes, there was a problem awhile back, but not now. In fact Liverpool is one of the friendliest airports I know. Surveys and polls seem to back that up too.

That has exactly been my point on this forum, glad you and others are now noting this and speaking out.

What is also apparent is that the recent sound bites from airline spokespeople clearly dont know and misrepresents the Liverpool City Region.
Maybe that person has eyes/ears on what that airlines boss is minded to think of our city.

Having looked at the figures for February, it really surprises me that EJ pulled Malta as a route, not just for winter 2012/13 but totally. I travelled twice last winter, mid November and early March, and all four sectors were practically full.Ii understand that load factor doesnt always mean a good yield factor but I am of the opinion that this route was pulled as it is also served by EJ from MAN and perhaps with the LPL route out the way, they can charge more from MAN, as the frquency doesnt seem to have increased from MAN.

This could well be down to Carolyn McCall wanting EJ to shift more flights to MAN. EJ will be creating 120 new jobs over there so they mean business and it could spell disaster for more flights out of LPL. Just a thought.

The Malta route does even better in March with the load factor being over 87%. The first quarter for the route gives an average 82% in the traditionally quiet pre Easter period.

Having a mancunian in charge of Easy north was never going to be good news for Liverpool.

I see that KLM are to introduce a new route to Manston from Amsterdam with two flights per day! Ridiculous! I don't see that one lasting long! If they can't sustain a routes from Liverpool why can they seem to sustain a route from virtually all UK airports?
