Hi
I'm after buying a laptop for various uses and ideally I would want it to run Flight Sim X with ease.
I originally purchased this sim a good year or 2 ago and the frame rate was that bad I refused to play on it any further. It was virtually impossible to fly (unless you were flying at 40,000ft over the Atlantic!) and the whole gaming/sim experience was extremely dissapointing. Even reducing the detail of every aspect of the game did not do much good. So, my poor old flight sim has been grounded in a cupboard or somewhere else in my house ever since.
I was wondering if anyone does indeed have FSX and can run it to a very playable standard? What computer specs should I look for when buying a new laptop?
Your advice appreciated.

Hi lancs,
I'm no computer expert but these are the minimum stats
•Windows XP SP2 / Windows Vista •Processor: 1.0 Ghz •RAM: Windows XP SP2 - 256MB, Windows Vista – 512MB •Hard Drive: 14GB •Video Card: 32MB DirectX 9 compatible •Other: DX9 hardware compatibility and audio board with speakers and/or headphones •Online/Multiplayer Requirements: 56.6 kbps or better for online play
seriously though; any less and the frame rate will be horrific.

look on the bright side adam most modern computers have more processing speed than that anyway and lots more ram ok; its a big chunck of hard drive but get an external hard drive for that, the video card is usally better than that on most new PCs The other two are easy... I hope I cheered you up abit.

I Have both FS9 and FSX, although mainly a fs9 flyer, i do now and again venture into the realms of X......
The laptop i've got at the moment can run it on mildly low settings and thats with a 248MB Nvidia 8200 M card in it and 2.76gb of Ram....
Ideally though you'll want something which comes with a Decent 512MB graphics chip in it (Nvidia is probably the best for this).. and most of the laptops now come with between 64mb and 248mb of graphics chip...
What would your budget be for a new laptop for FSX, as i'm sure that one which will run it at medium/high will set you back around £1200 ...

thanks for your replies.
Sounds like I either spend a fortune or run an older sim.
Older sim it looks like until technology at the right price for an average consumer catches up.
