2009 marked the 5th Jetstream Club Liverpool Aviation Fair. As the record of previous events was wiped off the internet with the shut-down of the xsorbit site, now is a good time to re-enter and bring upto date the information.
Feel free to illustrate. I wonder if Demin 402(2006, 2007), Superian(2008) or Ste-t (2008) have their photos still available on Photobucket for re-posting onto this new site. I have the file references, if they are needed - just PM me.
As there is a thread open regarding the 2009 Air Fair, probably best to use that for comments, not this thread until after the event.

A wide selection of photos from the first four years of the Aviation Fair appear on www.jetstream-club.org and follow 'Aviation Fair' from the top horizontal bank of links. In addition to the photo sllide show, there are details of what to expect in 2009.

What a brilliant set of photos. I especially liked the one of people on the balcony--a real blast from the past.Well done-- a great account of the shows. Now does anyone else remember the old railway oil tanker parked opposite the airfield in the marshalling yard with the message "Kimble is innocent" chalked on the front.LOL If you do you must be on your pension by now.LOL Again thanks for the photos--the memories they knock loose keeps the dreaded alzheimers at bay.LOL

I don't remember seeing that wording but do remember the lines of old steam trains waiting for the chop. Does anyone know if they were scrapped there or ferried to Barry Island to meet their doom?

I don't remember seeing that wording but do remember the lines of old steam trains waiting for the chop. Does anyone know if they were scrapped there or ferried to Barry Island to meet their doom? Very unlikely to have been taken all the way to Dai Woodham's yard, Ste. They might have gone to Cashmore's in the midlands. There is currently a reappraisal of where steam locos really were scrapped, see:- www.whatreallyhappenedtosteam.co.uk/what-really-happened-to-steam-article.htmA lot of the stuff that went to Woodham's at Barry ended up in preservation. I was lucky enough to visit there in 1978, some of my photos can be seen at:- davegraham.fotopic.net/c1213829_1.htmlCheers, Dave

Thanks for letting me know, sad to see them go where ever they ended their lives. Interesting, that the historians are on the case. Kept me busy for hours researching the fate of some of the engines in your photos. One of the most interesting was Battle of Britain class 34073 Your photo shows her rusting away with very little paint work in 1978. Just 5 years later she's been stripped of all her outer paneling. See flicker photo www.flickr.com/photos/taffytank/3710389587/In 1984 her paneling has been re-painted and re-applied in an attempt to preserve her. She was moved from Barry in 1988 but due to a fault on a sister engine (for which she supplied a vital part) her fate remains to this day uncertain. See link below en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BR_Battle_of_Britain_class_34073_249_SquadronOther interesting histories were D6122 and with just the edge showing in your photo D601 (Warship - Ark Royal) which spent more time in the scrap yard than they did in service. Yet neither type are in existance today.
