It should be of no surprise the surroundings of Langton Dock after all its part of the working dock system at the Port of Liverpool.

Liverpool City Council has formally asked the Department for Transport to enable cruise ships to start/finish their trips at the Pier Head.
They need permission because the terminal was funded partly with a '£9m grant from the European Union'.

Getting back ontrack, I am correct or not in saying Liverpool once had eight airlines operating schedules at one time?
Easyjet, Ryanair, Wizzair, Flybe, Air wales, BMI (Jersey Saturday schedule), Manx Airways and Emerald (To IOM, briefly)

I can remember the row of flagpoles leading up to the old terminal. On each flagpole was the ensign of a different airline. I cannot remember how many flagpoles there were but I cannot think of a time when more than about 6 were in use. Mind you I am remembering 1959 or thereabouts. God doesn't time fly when you are having fun.LOL

The Airport might have only 6 scheduled airlines now rather than 8 (and no flagpoles) but what a choice of 60+ destinations!!

Don't get me wrong on this--I am delighted for the success the airport has had and support it 100%.-I fly in and out of LJLA when often a more convenient airport would make more sense. The point I was trying to make is that we have never had a wide range of airlines and that that has had an effect on passenger numbers and how we are perceived as an airport. Ron may be right when he says we once had 8 airline users but I don't remember such numbers. And the flagpoles existed in fact not in my imagination. ;D

Ron, Your list may be close, but BMI had certainly stopped the Jersey flights well before Wizz and Flybe had started. I haven't had time to check on the details of the others. Phil
