Is there no end to Stagecoaches buying power? In just over two weeks not only Firstbus's Wigan, Birkenhead, and Chester, were acquired but now Manchester based Bluebird join their portfolio too. Bluebird based in Middleton was a privately owned operator that began life in 1988. It had over 40 vehicles to date and has been snapped up for £2m.

This deal was done at the start of the month, just awaiting OFT approval.
The Wirral/Chester operations and Bluebird have been purchased by different Stagecoach subsidiary companies. W&C by Glenvale and B by GMB South.
Someone has now jokingly named the remaining Firstbus operations in the NW as "First Retreat". Which will be next?
