The families day planned for the 5th of september will include a 3 hour flying display with up to 12 aircraft taking part. A fly past of a A380 is planned (time to follow) and a departure of a night stopping Beluga is planned. There are plan's for further parked display aircraft.

Thanks very much for the heads up, I'll be sure to get that day off work. How do we go about tickets this year, or is it a turn up and pay jobby?

I know staff have to apply for tickets this year as my nephew and brother-in-law have both been told this.

More on families day, aircraft that I have heared that are expected are, sea vixen - vulcan - red arrows - a380. Also expected are a parachute display team, also rumoured is a tornado ?
Space for 16 parked aircraft has been set aside on apron delta also on delta will be a stunt car area.

the red arrows website doesn't give hawarden a mention for the 5th sept, only northern island and duxford, unless they do a flyby on the way through!

Is this just open to families or like Jake asked above can anyone buy tickets or just turn up and pay at the door? If just for families, where would the best places be to park up and watch the action from?

Correct, I've spoken to a few people from Airbus and there is basically a memo that goes around about the family day, you put your name down and then they post out the ticket. The ticket enables you to get 5 people in and one car. Luckily I've managed to get one. Regarding spotting outside the airport itself I'd recommend either end of the runway, there are roads that pass very close by but it will be very busy between 13.00 - 16.00. Otherwise take a look at www.hawardenspotters.info/where_to_spot.htmAlso Vulcan to be in around 15:20. Jake.

steve If your looking for a good viewing spot I would suggest the small industrial estate on manor lane, this is behind the tower but is on a slight hill and does offer a good view over the airfield. I expect that the crash gate will be manned by security and a police presence to move people on, so give the estate a try.
