UK transponder code re-allocations effective 7th March 2013
NOTAM B0415/13 (Issued for EGTT EGPX) - THE UPDATED CENTRALISED CODE ASSIGNMENT AND MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (CCAMS) HAS RESULTED IN THE UK RELINQUISHING USE OF THE 02XX SERIES OF SSR CODES. FROM 7 MAR 13 AFFECTED UNITS WILL USE NEW SSR CODE ALLOCATIONS. THE CHANGE WILL BE PUBLISHED IN THE UK AIP ON 02 MAY 13. NEW SSR CODE ALLOCATIONS ARE AS FOLLOWS. Spotted this on Flightradar24's Forum, i don't understand what means but it will be of use to someone on here.

It's a change of 'squawk' code allocations for aircraft using the Liverpool zone. For example, at present, if a GA aircraft departs liverpool to leave the zone VFR it squawks 0260. As the 02XX series is being relinquished it has changed to 4360 instead .mic

Thanks for explaining that Mic, the squawk changes will keep you pilots busy as you travel around the country.

As these codes refer to UK areas and airfields why the need to alter numbers with other numbers ? Is this a "jobsworth" decision or does it have an important reason behind it ?
