I have finally finished reading it Brian and I am gobsmacked. I never realised that so many aircraft had passed through the Keen family business. A great deal I remember and a lot I had forgotten about. Thanks for your hard work in putting this to-gether. Regards Beemer.

I've found a few photos, and I'll email any that you particularly want Viscount. G-BCCU at IOM on 9 February 1996. This is the IOM Airport Firemen trying to extract Aztec G-BCPF from the soft edge of the newly laid apron, on 18 June 1993. G-BEDP at IOM on 11 September 1996. G-BGYT at IOM on 9 January 1998. From your article I now assume that this is G-BGYT flying on behalf of Keenair, at IOM on 7 December 1989. And finally G-KEEN in pieces in the old Large Over Blister hangar at Bristol Airport on 13 September 1985. Aviation West / Air Camelot, later Topflight used this hangar, and I wonder if there were other connections with Keenair? Aviation West used Trislanders on the nightly mail contract, and at least one of these Trislanders are mentioned in your article.

Thanks Martin for that delightful study of Colt G-ARGO in its later colours.
By posting this photo, you have 'bumped-up' the Liverpool Aero Club/Keenair/Liverpool Flying School thread, as a result I have brought forward the re-insertion of the 75 (plus a fresh half a dozen or so) images into the first page of this thread - unilaterally removed 8 months ago by Photobucket's actions.
The narrative is now once again illustrated. In the next couple of days I'll bring the tables up to date, although there are not too many changes in the past 5 years since first posted. I note that in the 5 years that this thread has been open, 7,600 'hits' have been recorded March 2013 to February 2018, making this a much appreciated thread.

Yep, a great article and when I look back at it, I see I was looking forward to 50 years of flying since learning to fly with Jim Keen. Now I am looking forward to 55 years, on Bastille Day, 2018.

ASSOCIATED AIRCRAFTSome of the local privately owned aircraft have been used by the flying club on a regular ‘if required’ basis, but never owned by them. This list is far from exhaustive. Aircraft that were once owned by the flying club, sold locally, but were then made available to members by the new owners eg G-ARGO, G-AVGK, G-PAWL etc, are not included in this table. Regn. JIM & MARTIN KEEN’S ‘REAL’ AEROPLANES STEARMANSThe import of two Stearman bi-planes in early 1973 from Israel created a great deal of interest and established Jim Keen as a respected importer of “classic” aeroplanes. Retaining their Israeli identities, they were flown across Europe on delivery during March 1973. After inspection they were placed on the UK register as G-BAVN and G-BAVO. ‘Victor November’ being re-flown just days before performing at the May 1973 Liverpool Air Show, with ‘Victor Oscar’ following it into the air during early August. Between summer ’73 and mid ’79 G-BAVN operated in a white overall scheme with red trim, for the later part of this period in the ownership of Mr R.T.A.Smith it flew rarely. In mid ’79 it was resprayed into the classic blue and yellow US Navy training colours, and soon after was sold and departed from Liverpool.
