Excellent shots Ians - looks a great place to be. It also reminded me that someone placed some photo's of a balloon fest here in the North West on the last forum. I would love to go to one of these and was wondering if there any due to take place within our region soon?

In the 'Further Afield - Civil' section, have a look for a thread 'North West Air Events - 2009'. The biggest HAB event in the UK is the Bristol Balloon Fiesta, A three day event, usually in August. Given good weather (vital) there are over 100 balloons in each morning and afternoon launch - including a fair number of special shapes. The largest event in our region every year is the Llangollen Balloon Festival in early September. Again, decent calm weather is a must, the Saturday evening launch is usually around 12-15 HABs, although few special shapes ever appear. A few hours later there is a night inflation to music with around 8 envelopes involved. This is followed by fireworks. There is a charge to enter the crowded Eistedfordd Show Site. There are other Balloon Meets around the region, most (maybe all) are listed in the 'Further Afield - Civil Section' in a thread mentioned earlier. 6-9th August 2009 www.bristolfiesta.co.uk4-6th September www.hotairballoonfestival.co.ukmany of the British events www.bbac.org/events

Thanks Brian.
Looks like it will be the Llangollen Balloon Festival in early September for me. Nice bit of speeded up film in the second link - makes the night inflation look as though its well worth staying around for.
