Speed bird,
If you follow this link it is mostly about creating a cartoon of yourself as an Avatar.
The instructions (which hopefully are available to all, not just administrators) I recently followed to create my Avatar via camera image card, Picasa and Photobucket (although I suspect I could have cut corners. If I had known what I was doing!) came by selecting 'help' on the left of the top bar on the index/front page, then selecting the 8th item down the list 'Avatars', then top option 'linking or loading avatar image. As 'buspilot' has observed getting the avatar down to 150 x 150, or 1kb seems to be vital.
Eventually it would appear that the administrators can create an avatar to replace the loathesome blue egg-head as an alternative default. However the experienced administrator is working off a mobile phone and I don't trust myself due to inexperience (or more correctly I fear an inability to put things right, should I 'screw-up') playing around with the settings. Perhaps the old 'NWAN Forum' logo would work, but I don't have the image stored.
As to 'Habu's' problem. I have shuffled through the pages of instructions to administrators and pages of optional 'add-ons', most of which make little sense, however cannot locate anything that seems to solve 'Habu's' need to not be charged for displaying photos unnecessarily. There are references to use of 'Proboards Mobile App', but nothing to say it would sort out the problem. If available to members (ie not a function that is only available to administrators), then on the nwan forum front page, at the top left top line of options, select 'help', then at bottom of new page in the middle row (in purple) select 'support forum' and search or ultimately ask the question there. I've poked about but not found anything useful yet. I fear that this option may only be available to myself and Dave, not a standard member - but cannot test that out without deleting myself as an administrator!

Brian, Sorry to go through this bit of the board, but I have sent you two personal messages( possibly) I may be dumb but I can't find a " send" button and the outbox drop down disappears so fast can't check it. So I don't know if I have sent or you have therefore revived my messages. Can you confirm.
Cheers Clive

Have any forum members who use the Proboards app for IPhone/iPad noticed that posts displaying images are now accompanied by the annoying bbcode and the unsightly link around the thumbnail images. This definitely wasn't there pre-upgrade. It may be that the app is due an upgrade to align with the website.
Regards, Garry

Save me from this new Forum! Do I have to log in every time i want to read/transmit messages? Seems so at present. Is it just a case of things settling down or am I destined to wake, screaming, in the night trying to remember my user name and password?

Liverpoolman, maybe a bit of a basic question (however you have not covered this detail in your question), when you log-in with user-name and password, are you at the same time ticking the little box that says 'open every time' (or some such brief wording)? The 'remember me' tick box is far from obvious.

It's odd this, Viscount. To test it, I went out of NWAN Forum completely - even as far as switching off my computer completely - and when I came back in, there it was, just as normal and without the username and password request. As I say, 'tis odd and I put it down to teething troubles. Let's see what tomorrow brings.

The functionality of the new set up leaves a lot be be desired.
The following functions are something the new board wont let me do - 'Mark All Boards Read', get to the 'outbox' of PMs and get go to the last read post on a thread.

Google Chrome will remember all passwords when asked, and I am sure other browsers do the same. I have to type in my passwords when viewing the Forum on my works computer though. Regards Beemer.

LPL, I think these functions are still available:
'Mark all posts as read', a function that I have never tried, can be found located (in blue print) at the bottom of the front page/index page, in the box titled "Threads and Posts".
Your PM mail 'outbox' can be opened by clicking on the options arrow beside 'inbox' which provides two further options.
Not too sure what you are trying to find regarding the last post on a thread. The revised forum has two options (compared to just one before). These are located in the same box as the 'Mark all posts as read' function. In tiny lettering, although in blue, look for 'recent posts', or 'recent threads'. Of these, as a very regular forum user (as I know you are) I'latest 'recent posts' a great way of monitoring of all activity, so filtering out the recent worthy of full reading. As I seek out 'latest posts' rather regularly I do wish the access was easier to locate on a touch screen I-pad. The 'latest 50 threads' function prior to the 'update' is no longer offered as such, replaced by the much longer coverage of 'recent posts', over a number of sides.

Just tried the above - 'Mark all posts as read'/'Outbox'/go to last post of the thread 'NEW' - in IE and they work as expected but using the Pale Moon browser (from the Firefox stable) it doesnt!!! So it looks like its something within the different browsers that effect the functionality.

So it looks like I'm the only awkward s*d with a forum problem that cannot be solved...story of my life!
Incidentally, many thanks to Mike (Speedbird) for his suggestion to elimimnate images at the Firefox stage.
This did work to a point, but it made some other web-sites (and my e-mail,which I thought was text-only) difficult or impossible to use.
It is in practice too messy to keep re-setting the Firefox filter depending upon what material I'm working with at the time.
For now I'm stuck with photos of Robboes and PA-38s...which I admit may be interesting to some members, particularly club pilots.
It is just very disappointing that the "enhanced" version of the forum is so inferior to the old one.
