Don't blame the yanks for all of that --though I agree it started an unneccesary loss of life that makes my blood boil--like many other people I feel that the WHOLE of Afghanistan is not worth the life of one British soldier Thanks to Bush's poodle-- our own millionaire visiting speaker and Simpson's star-we were dragged in--- BLAIR---WMD--what a legacy. And to add to your apolitical stance I too find no political party worthy of support--but there are those who are detestable and still owe an apology to the nations they have hoodwinked with their smoke and mirrors yet again. .

Clearly, I am not living on the same planet!
I agree that the whole of Afghanistan is not worth the life of a singe British Soldier, it was a mistake to go there. Similarly Libya where Gadhafi, nasty piece of work that he was, kept Al Qaeda at bay; and Saddam, who did the same in Iraq. Sad thing is that most of us voting fodder did not want to have any part of it, and we are paying a price for having a poodle pandering to the WMD (Words of Mass Deceit) of a Republican President of the US. A man whose only objective was to fund a war for the benefit of his mates in the arms industry, and for his friend Dick Cheney who found himself, by complete co-incidence of course, as vice president or major shareholder, of nearly every company to be awarded a re-construction contract.

If only corrupt politicians were the sole perogative of the US republican party. Must be from another planet and just visiting---but at least its democracy ---but not as we know it Jim.LOL. Now under Sharia law you would never get such deceit. Perhaps we should hand it all over to the Imams.
And yes that was tongue in cheek.LOL

Oh dear StObama involved in spying on his closest allies--what is the world coming to. Wonder how he is going to pin THAT one on George Bush--a politician to break the mould of US politics--sorry just don't think so--just another conniving con man. Could it happen on his watch? You bet.

Most politicians are self interested and quite a lot are corrupt. This applies across the board from President to local councillor. President Obama is no different to any other in this respect, and there are many reasons why I dislike him. However, I started this post about the struggle to bring affordable health care to millions of Americans who have to work for a living. I quoted that for this reason alone I supported him. As often happens, the subject drifted off message to predictable right/left arguments. However nothing has happened to change my opinion on this single point. When you have friends whose cancer treatment came to an end because the health plan she was on reached its financial limit, when a child is found dead at home and the parents get a $550 bill for the ambulance and the paramedics, and then, they find that the health plan put in place by their employer does not cover that, something has to change, and I applaud the man who is trying to bring about the change.
Its the same here. I disliked Gordon Brown and I loathe "socialism", although I embrace social justice. I thought Brown was a terrible Chancellor and an even worse PM. However, he brought about a single piece of legislation which allows me to safeguard my pension. By moving it out of the UK it allows me to pass any residual amount to my heirs without having to pay 55% tax on the balance, a new tax recently introduced by Osborne. Even though my pension lost some of its value in his years as PM, for this one act alone,I applaud Brown.

"Perhaps we should hand it all over to the Imams."
I thought we had already, Sharia Law is allowed to rule now in parts of London, how did that happen in Britain in 2013 ?

I have worked in Bradford--I have seen the future--it ends not with a bang but with a whimper. One day we will have to explain to our grandchildren how we let it happen.
