Volunteers spent a productive day yesterday blanking off all of Charlie Fox's passenger windows, prior to application of paint stripping chemicals next week. The cockpit windows will also be blanked off beforehand. The stripper will be applied on Tuesday and washed off on Wednesday, leaving a gleaming Silver Machine. It is intended to apply etch primer to at least part of the fuselage prior to Winter.

My previous post was a tad optimistic. Application of the paint stripper has revealed liveries of previous operators hidden beneath and the paint stripper will only dissolve one or maybe two coats of paint at a time. Given that the aircraft operated with British Eagle, Monarch, Lloyd International, Africa Safari and Invicta then the task is significant (although more pertinent for the rear fuselage as the front section has been fully stripped in the past). It's quite sad to see Monarch colours emerging given that airline's present difficulties. We are getting there, but it's a slow - and given the cost of the paint stripper expensive - job.
