Anyone know anything more about this? ATC don't! I thought the plan was to close the road across the approach rather than the Bailey's Lane access. The people who live on that road wouldn't be pleased though. All happened very suddenly. I didn't think you could close public roads without a lot of consultation. Presumably this has already been done without any publicity.

It's been done at the request of and in consultation with the residents of Bailey's Lane, as far as I know...

Must have been published locally, I think the law requires a public notice to be shown in local papers and on signs usually attached to lamposts so any objections can be made ? especially as it is a road and not an unadopted track. Just a thought on this how do the emergency services, like Fire, Ambulance and Police gain access to BL at the gate is it locked or do they have a key if it is locked

They have just made Bailey's Lane into a cul-de-sac. Entry is now only possible from Hale Road.

I am told locally, where it's been in the local council newsletter, that it is at the request of residents. I think that some of the complaints relate to it being a short cut for scrambler bikes, quads and 4x4s.

Has this affected access to the 'mound' itself at 27, as I've not been down there for a few months. I normally come in from the GA side anyway.
Must say if it does cut down on the number of 4x4's and scramblers etc it will be a good thing..

Not been down yet either but shouldn't affect Dungeon Lane at all. Gates were due to be installed at the junction of Bailey's Lane / Dungeon Lane and by the horse paddock further up Bailey's Lane. The gates have been installed because of problems with fly tipping and , as mentioned above, 4x4 vehicles "using the area as a race track"

Initially, I shouldn't think it would cut down on quad-bikes (4x4's) or scramblers as these in the main come from the Speke estate. What it will do is make it easier for the Police to catch offenders. So yes, over a period of time they will become less of a nuisance. Well - in theory at least ;D

Can't we get some sort of cargo net attached to one of the helicentre's trainers and give trainees extra credit - it would be excellent heli control to come in and scoop a scambler up, and the mersey is only a few seconds away.....

I am aware that there are two gates to be put in place. One near the triangle near the residents end and the other is to go near the Oglet/Mound end.. They were due to be put in place soon, have they done it?

Workers were painting a yellow box in front of the gate at Dungeon Lane this afternoon to discourage people parking in front of it, as they were yesterday. It is still an emergency route. The gates are electronically locked, so presumeably can be unlocked by an approaching emergency vehicle.
The gates have a lower centre section to allow horses to step over.

The gates are electronically locked ? I had a good look last week and they have a large Padlock inside the frames.
