What he's saying is; Airport by Coach have down registered the service with the Traffic Commissioner and the X2 will no-longer operate after the 12th December. Another sad day for road transport links to the airport. Heres a link to the X2's web-site where you will not be able to book a trip past the above date. www.airportbycoachliverpool.com/

So reading mtlnorth's message again, am I correct in assuming that the X2 will operate between Manchester Piccadilly and Liverpool Lime Street stations only? Will it NOT call at Liverpool Airport? What other Liverpool Airport to Manchester coach services will run after that date?

Unfortunately, its a cancellation and not a variation order so the whole route has to go. PSV's are very expensive to run and the numbers of passengers needed to keep this sort of service going just aren't there at this moment in time. Therefore, it is unlikely that anyone else will step in, unless its to operated as a socially required subsidised contract. So, lets see what the new Integrated Transport Authority comes up with. Somehow, I cant see them rushing to pay for this one. The current direct Terravision service will still run to Manchester (city centre).

Heard today that a number of staff have already gone and the drivers are under notice. This means that they are now free to look for alternative employment. Obviously they could leave as soon as they get this and therefore, the company may have to apply for an emergency cancellation order. As such, the route could go well before the current December deadline. So any of you wanting to travel on the service or get photo's of the coaches in airport livery, you'd better do it sooner rather than later.

Not too sure about that Jordan as this seemed to bring more passengers to the airport than the Manchester side of the route.
I think its more likely its succumbed to a combination of lower than predicted passenger numbers coupled with higher than anticipated costs during its inauguration period.
Just that one breakdown pictured above would have cost in excess of £1.5k, especially if it was recovered to their Manchester base. At £7 per ticket, thats an extra 215 passengers (5 full coaches) they would have to carry just to pay for it.
