Worse, much worse...... I still have the sweat shirt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
...........maybe even the tee-shirt too .... oh no!!
....even the yellow M.A.S. banner half hidden behind the sticker board. Oh, yes ........ and an envelope of stall photos which I'm looking to be paid good money for by the half naked sun and aeroplane worshippers serving on the stall. In reality I've never posted them out of decency and respect for those who did foolish things in their youth.

Hi All The Merseyside magazines had lots of good stuff in them....... I remember the inky fingers we had getting a "skin" onto and off the rotary duplicator in the club room. In these days of digital, I wonder if all the issues could be scanned and put onto a DVD like Air Britain have done with their old issues? That would preseve the History of the club and contain lots of information which it would be a shame to see lost. John

I saw referance a few pages back to the 1961 southern England tour or "purge" as it was refered to. Starting at Brawdy (cocooned Sea Baliols, Sea Princes and Sea Vampires we went to many airfiels on the way to Exeter where we had a tour around 3 CAACU 11 Mosquitos and 13 Vampire T.II. A Tour arround Tarrant Rushton (Belgian F-84 and RF-84 on overhaul and RAF Meteors.....and on we went.- that was only day 4. My log ends with the team. Pete Whalley, Dick Ward, George Jones, Les Brighton, Robin and Lewis Grey, Phil Butler, Barry Lloyd and myself.

Photo of the Pou du Ciel taken at Speke. I think it was 1971 but it was definitely the day of an air display. I see George Jones in the picture and my red Vauxhall Viva.

I was having a clear out over Christmas and came across this photograph which I thought may be be of interest to some on this forum. I think it is the early seventies and I am the teenager in the middle of the group. Any more specific information on a date and venue would be appreciated.
I am a frequent visitor to the forum and can sincerely I thank all who contribute and wish you a happy new year.

I recall joining MSAE in early 1960's one highlight was being able to hire/rent for a nominal fee a Shorrock Air Band radio. I wonder if they still about as reception was brilliant even for me living in Wallasey. I also remember returning from an airshow excursion via coach Farnborough probably and there being public transport running when dropped at the old terminal late at night, that left the only option of sleeping on a fau leather bench outside the old Met Office on corridor from main reception until the morning buses started running.

After a year of lying dormant this great thread springs back into life. Peterbrack thanks for the photo - I both love and loathe these. Love the 40 year old memories re-awoken, hate the need to identify those pictured, a fear not just of getting names/faces match wrong but being told off for not recognising people that I should. So, an attempt at a few names (in the hope I don't foul things up).
Front left (as you look at the photo) in suit and tie likely Ray Kittle;leaning on the table left end is certainly George Jones (SGJ); between George and the post is certainly Phil Duckett; likely Brian Billington to the right of the post with Bill McDiarmid (also in suit and tie) table centre. Continuing across it could be Mike Breslin behind the other post. Head and shoulders above the others is certainly JWB - John Brown, MAS Chairman;leaning on the right hand table edge with long hair, glasses and Parka is Ken Ellis. The one I don't locate is myself, thank goodness! Seem to find a possible Martin Chell twice and don't immediately spot Phil Butler or Clive Harden, who where likely there.
Time and place. Well the aircraft nose is likely that of NAPS BA Swallow G-AEVZ, so likely Speke, Barton or Woodford. Of these I would suggest the Air Display at Speke in 1972 fits the scene well.
Nice one. Thanks.

Studying the photo a couple more of the old gang are , again as you look at the photo. To the right of Ken is StH and possibly to the left of and just behind George Jones with only a head visible is Steve Mason.

Looking further could it be Tony Williams with suitably long hair just to the left of Ken
