It should be noted that the two AirExplore 734s, on lease to Ryanair, are into their 23rd year.
The oldest Jet2 733 is 28 years old.

Who cares how old an aeroplane is? There are hundreds of older machines flying around in the colours of so called national airlines. What is important is maintenance and how they are flown. (EG Air France B777 flown by pilots who could not recognise a stall!)
By way of an analogy, I have a 1969 Cessna 172 which is cared for beautifully and looks it. A friend has just turned up here at my house in a relatively new PA-28. What a heap. I know which I would rather fly in.
What disturbs me about this thread is that somebody asked the question about fleet age when the route announcement was fresh and we should have been rejoicing.

Blue Air have added transfers, by car/bus, to Constanta and Brasov from the LPL flights.
Also the New Years Eve flight to Bucharest has sold out I notice.

Hi, the Constanta flights operated on a Sunday early evening and were operated by Tarom Tupolev TU-154s and not Ilyushin IL-18s. The IL-18s used to operate from Manchester to Xonstanta in the early 70's

Could it be that its saying sold out but is actually not to be running as it doesnt get into Bucharest until 2330, and the Bucharest-Liverpool flight sold out too on that date. Fares in December and January are rising though, presumably migrant workers going home for Xmas, but if the service from the airline is good hopefully they'll tell their friends and figures through the year will be good. Will be interesting to see how many UK citizens use the route given the timings.

Rare for me to contradict 'Calflier', but Liverpool has never had a series of flights by Il-18 aircraft, all visits being 'one-off' flights. Yes, we certainly did have a summer series to Constansa by Tu-154 of Tarom, possibly 1980 - i'll look it up and report back once I'm in the same place as my records (if www.nwan was still on the web, the answer was there, but along with his own stuff Dave has wiped some of my unduplicated material too).

Brian
Not had much of a chance to look to see what has gone from the site. Have all the past logs and monthly reports been removed?

Further to my comment on the Wizzair thread on advertising, I noticed yesterday that the airport, with Blue Air is running a competition on Radio City to win a weekend in Bucharest. Really glad to see efforts being made on the marketing front!

Hi there I can't create threads for some reason and I don't know where else to post this but Small Planet Airlines will operate a service from JLA to Verona on 20th May and returning a week later. Great news for JLA.
