The return of Aer Lingus to Liverpool is long overdue and it's excellent news. As eye2eye5 points out, they're not messing about with a commuter aircraft either - straight in with an A320. I sincerely hope that the route is prosperous. There may be some retaliation from FR,over this, but I dont think if that happens it will cause a problem for EI,because it looks as though this is aimed mostly at boosting their transatlatic hub at Dub,there are some great fares on offer, also multi city,ie fly into JFK and rtn from ORD,this is a signifcant development for LPL,and its customers! Yes they will miraculously find aircraft from thin air in an effort to rid EI from the route!

The two airlines competing on the MAN - DUB route have done wonders for Manchester's passenger figures (unsure about the yields for the two airlines of course). Looking at the proposed timings, they should fill the timetable nicely - FR often seems too early and too late in the day for optimum travel.

The only concern i can think of is the handling of the flight, the last time they where here a few mistakes in handling them. I prey the handing company gets all the training right, from check in,loading bags into the right baggage cans and finally at the aircraft.Congratulations to Andrew Cornish and his team for the return of Aer Lingus, all we need now is to replace the boarding tunnels where the Ryanair aircraft park, hot in the summer and cold in the winter!!

Last time they operated, first with a 737,then an A320,became a problem due to the fact that the A320 being containerised with baggage, the hilo punctured the aircraft on a few occassions, probably due to the rail not being retracted, the ramp handling company was then the airport itself,so hopefully the agent who will be handling, can get the hilo issue sorted well before the service starts.

Calflier, you remember that aswell, with 99% of the aicraft bulk loaded i would say that everyone from the baggage hall to the ramp crews will need training, after all its only five and a half months away!!
Frank.

This service is GREAT news. Let's all pull together to ensure the word gets to all residents in Merseyside and beyond - remember to alert any contacts you may have abroad, particularly in the USA. The combination of Dublin & Liverpool should be very appealing. Use all the plus points - music, golf, nightlife, ancestors, soccer (Liverpool), .....etc.. etc. Sell, sell, sell.

Excellent news indeed. Just done a random search for November. 19.99 each way to Dublin and 7 U.S. destinations also.

You cant expect people to travel over from their when the owners cant be coaxed over for SG last game. However Everton can entice supporters over given high profile Americans playing at GP and with supporters clubs over the length and breadth of the continent evertonusa.net/local-chapters/ . This map showing Everton Supporters Clubs around the world looks very like the airports map showing the possible routes now and when the codeshares come on line. www.evertonfc.com/news/2015/05/21/international-fan-map

The proposed Aer Lingus schedule is as follows:-
EI 192/193 Arrives Liverpool 08:05 and Departs 08:40 Daily except Sunday EI 194/195 Arrives Liverpool 15:00 and Departs 15:35 Thursday, Friday and Sunday EI 198/199 Arrives Liverpool 19:05 and Departs 19:40 Daily
Sunday does not allow for any Liverpool - USA/Canada connections

Excellent, Excellent, Excellent.
A respected carrier operating flights to the USA and starting off going in the right direction. Entry clearance for the USA at Dublin should prove to be a winner. It would for me.
Of course it was predictable that Ryanair would respond to the challenge, but as others have said it should not be too much of a problem. There is potential for dilution of some of the connections of FLYBE via Amsterdam but again those connections are more Asia and Africa related.
This is all coming together nicely and it looks as though somebody has put some real thought into route development at last.
With 7 airlines operating from October the "Boutique Airport" concept is beginning to look attractive.
