Don't know if Alan Cookson is a member here but I've just come across one of his photo's of 0-25805 at Liverpool with a Laker 1-11 in the background. Did the Finnish airline Kar-Air operate their Convair's into Liverpool?
Metropolitan 440 OH-VKN c/n497 is preserved at the Malaga Airport museum.
She also operated with this registration for Finnair.
One of my neighbours is involved with the group who own her. They have fitted a glass floor in part of the cabin, so that visitors can see all the control cables. They are presently trying to locate original seats for the type to restore part of the cabin to original condition..

CONVAIRLINERS AT LIVERPOOL Another thread to 'bump-up' on the Nostalgia Section front-page. First posted in November 2009 the thread has clocked-up some 8,480 views so far. In May 2023 a few watermark spoilt images removed and replaced and many more added. A few watermarked images remain as I cannot replace these with unspoilt images. If you can, I'd be delighted for more illustrations of Convairliners at Liverpool, especially the Cv.580s on freight flights in the 1980s and 1990s. Scroll through and enjoy some Airport nostalgia a mix of b&ws and some great colour shots of iconic airliners on the apron at Liverpool. |
