Great period photos. Done a little digging in the logs and reference books.
G-AMNW C-47 BEA - with BEA 1.52 - 5.62 when departed to East Anglian Flying Services. Appears not to be in the 1960 or 1962 logs, but used by BEA into Liverpool during 1961.
G-ALXK C-47 North South Airlines - as can be clearly seen an ex BEA aircraft, with North South Airlines 7.61 - 3.62, when they ceased flying. Arrived Liverpool 25.8.61 from EGGU, departed back to EGGU 25.11.61, noted operating Starways flights 16, 17, 19, 20 & 21.9. Sorry cannot decode EGGU.
PH-SSM C-47 Fairways Rotterdam - 2.61 to 1.66, although taken-over by Martin's Air Charter '64. Visited Liverpool 25.6.61 f&t Rotterdam, 7.9.62 Amsterdam-Rotterdam at least. No visit in 1963.
G-AMBE Anson Federated Fruit. Resident until left to Southend 12.4.61.
G-APUC C-47 Air Links. With them 5.59 to 4.63. Noted at Speke 7.10.60 apparently with Skyways and 15.7.61 with Air Links. Did not appear at Speke 1962, but was back in 1963 from Glasgow 13.7 and night stop before onward to Stansted, operator not noted.
LN-SUK C-47 Bratheens. With them 3.57 till 9.62. Noted at Speke in 1960, 1961 and 1962. I note the signals square is in use. I cannot remember this in use 1961 on, although stand open to correction.
0-48083 C-47A USAF. With 47 Ops Sqdn, Sculthorpe 11.51 till 1962. Only visit 1960 onwards was on 24.2.61 f&t Sculthorpe. Nearly confused by 48043 which called in 1960!
F-BDRJ C-54 Transports Aeriens Intercontinentale/Air Inter. Only visit to Speke 16.2.62 and night stopped, f&t Orly. Nice photo. Note the Piaggio P.166 beyond the hangar.
G-ALVF Dove, Dan Air. With the airline 1.60 - 2.65, used on scheduled services, so very regular. They also used G-AIWF 1.60 - 10.63.
G-AMOB V.701 Viscount, BEA. With BEA 4.53 to 8.62, when sold to VASP. Visited Speke on schedules 1960, 1961 and 1962.
I don't have Liverpool visits logs for the Fifties, so only Sixties visits appear above.
Hope this is of interest to Garstonboy and others.

Thanks Viscount - I had guessed they were early 60s, when I first started spotting.
I wonder if the North South DC-3 was f&t Luton? Luton is EGGW, and given that flight plans were written in those days, it's highly likely - also a likely base for North South. I've checked a very old IATA location indicator book, and it's not in there either. The only one I could remember was G-AMBE, which I flew in many times. I've found a better photo of it too. I'll post a some more in the next few days, so keep the books handy!

North South operated from Leeds. From the printed MGAE 'Northern Aeronews' of the time, find the Dakota arrived from Leeds for maintenance work by Starways. It returned to Leeds several months later. Presume EGGU could be a Sixties code for what is now EGNM.

Great--wish I had had a camera in those days. Believe it or not, some of these were taken with a Brownie 127, bought with money I earned from Harry Patterson when he had G-AOJH at Liverpool (more in the Southport thread). Most of the older stuff is on 120/127 film, and I don't have a scanner to deal with them. Some pictures will scan, but others are too big to get all the detail in. If anyone knows of a way of scanning 120/127 film, please let me know, because I have a lot of negs in those formats mainly from Speke, but also from Ringway, Squires Gate and a few from a Burtonwood open day.

There are a lot of new scanners on the market made especially for capturing old film negs and slides. They connect via USB and information is transferred to a SD memory card in the scanner. Slides and Negs are held in a carrier for the purpose. Try a Google search for slide/negative scanners and see what comes up. I actually know of one for sale in a charity shop in Wallasey this week unless it is now sold (Thursday 3/12) for about £25 brand new in the box.

True, but everything I've come across so far is just for 35mm. I've tried the usual suspects, eBay, Maplin etc., and browsed around, but I haven't found one versatile enough - yet!

Garstonboy. My scanner , a Canoscan 8000F is a flatbed scanner that will do conventional scanning and then can be converted to scan slides and 35mm film. You open the lid and remove the lid liner and fit a plastic frame on the glass in which you drop your slides. You replace that frame for another that you clip your 35mm film in. It is all automatic and returns the finished article to your desktop as individual photos. I have done hundreds this way with no problems. I have just read further back up the thread and it is 127 film that you need scanning. Am I right in saying that each photo negative is 46mmx46mm square. If so the frame has 50mm squares that would take individual negs. I would be only too happy to try a few for you. Regards Beemer.
