Hi Beemer
These were taken on 30 May 1983 so not on the MAS trip. I was on a personal trip to the Mildenhall Air Show on the 28th (an evil wet day) - stayed in Cambridge and called in at Stansted and Luton on the way back.
cheers

In my log I have a couple of Turkish AF Viscounts 430 and 431. Any photos of those? Beemer.

The Turks would almost certainly have been in the ATEL hangar and impossible to photograph.I noted them in there in the middle of June `83.
I suspect the spotting community had started to take the annual show at Mildenhall for granted.....................what would we give for something like that again? The show did suffer from a number of fatal crashes however. In `83 a T-34 Turbo Mentor went down on the Sunday with the loss of the pilot.

Yes the Mentor was N2067A (GM-78) - I've got a photo of it on the Saturday somewhere

In the early 80's Stansted was certainly the place to see various patched up 707's and DC8's flying cargo to many dubious places around the world. It's current cargo flights have increased over the last few years and you can see MD11's, B747- 400/800's, B777's, B767's, A330's, A300's of various airlines, for example Fed-Ex, UPS, Qatar, Cargoxlux and its partners, China Southern, Martinair
