OK,tonight's weird query for you knowledgeable people out there.I have a copy of AP1480( 1949 Edition) which lists the military a/c of the Americas.Under the Section(13) for Mexico the first a/c that is listed is an A.R.E.S and showing as American. That's all I know.I have tried everywhere to ascertain the full designation of this a/c type but no luck.I have even e-mailed the Mexican Air Historical Society(would you believe) Guess what ---no answer.Anybody any ideas?
If you think that's bad under Paraguay it just gives M7 and M9 as types description.I managed to track down them as Muniz M7 and M9 which are Brazilian trainer biplanes of 1935 and '37.They look a bit like SV4Cs.
A.R.E.S ( Yes ,you read it correctly!) driving me nuts though.Help!

If nwan fails to come up with an answer to this obscure, but undoubtedly intriguing, question, could I suggest that you risk the snipers and post on FlyPast/Key Publishing's international aviation forum in the 'historic' section. I'll copy and paste your request on if you wish. There are a number of very knowledgeable people lurking there, who relish the obscure - along with the snipers, the amusing, the unhelpful and occasional downright rude. Although risking a severe thread drift, a recent question on the FlyPast/Key Publishing forum prompted a set of fascinating USAAF/Lockheeds b&w shots in Speke's hangars during 1943. Worth a look. forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?142565-USAAF-Eighth-Air-Force-Mustang-English-port-arrivals-and-test-flights

Hi MB
Google 'A.R.E.S, aircraft, mexico'
It comes up with a book called 'Her Daughter the Engineer: The Life of Elsie Gregory MacGill'
May give you some answers.
Cheers
Dave
