I have a full list of all 233 arrivals for the Champions League into Manchester (and the 13 into Liverpool) over 4 days, as published at the time in the paper NWAN magazine.
As I have not signed up to any 3rd party hosting site as yet, I cannot copy to Picasa, then uplift to a host and download to nwan forum to display on this thread.
However if Shaun 1969 would like to drop me a PM (click on 'Viscount', then 'send this person a PM'), I will scan to e-mail and send all three and half sides of information, which includes regn, type, time in/out, from & to and flight numbers (but no decode for the ICAO airline designators used!). A full, complete and comprehensive listing from a very reliable source.
Brian.

Tony 1965, quite a selection of great shots there. As myself, Samba, RadiostationX and RonTurner have been discussing recently on another thread, once scanned the appearance of shots can be considerably improved fairly easily. The presence of white or black blemishes caused by developing, dust or scratches can be removed with a little knowledge and patience using programmes like the Google (but no longer supported) Picassa programme, or the more technical Photoshop. Also many of your photos could take a shade of 'background light' introduced (to bring back some underside detail) and possibly on Photoshop toning-down of a slight colour cast.
I do a great deal of scanning from b&w and colour prints and transparencies and have built up quite a backlog to post (or in the case of those removed by Photobucket re-post) shortly. While straight scans are acceptable, it is amazing once you have mastered the technique, how surprisingly better the images look with a couple of minutes each of tlc to remove the blemishes, dust, any colour cast, straighten, re-crop and even slightly sharpen. I'm very willing to help anyone master Picassa, while RadiostationX has helped another forumite recently with Photoshop skills.
Even before use of Picassa or Photoshop, a little more care to clean the transparencies of dust (eg Falcon and A.330, where just one strand draws the eye away from the image) can yield results. I've heard of various ways, even using a hair drier set on cold! I have a small soft brush with a small battery driven suction device (intended as a lens cleaner) that I use for transparencies, while prints get a wipe-over from a soft 'opticians glasses cleaner' cloth. Never use water as a cleaning agent! I also clean the scanner glass paten after around every 10 changes of prints or slides with a specialised TFT/LCD screen cleaner (although any good glass cleaner would do)to catch any newly settled dust or finger marks.
To have photos like those above in your collection, you must have many more waiting to be shared. I, for one, look forward to more. Brian.

Hi Brian, thanks for your help and advice, photo editing can be an art depending on which programme you have, at the moment I have photo shop installed, but I think it'll take some practice and mastering, but I guess once you have the practice it becomes second nature. I do have quiet a selection of pictures some going back to he very early eighties and slides from around 2000, just before I went digital in about 2007. Its always been an idea to go on a photo editing course when I retire!
In the mean time I'll have a practice and post a couple as I go along.

Yes, getting instruction into the use of an image processing programme is needed, be it 'night' school or a good friend, 'master class' style tuition it vital to get the best out whichever programme you have selected. I got 6 hours of tuition across two snowy evenings at night school - as many did not attend those weeks, I got great tuition and climbed straight from fumbling time-wasting novice to very able in two sessions. I was still working at the time, so the sessions did cost - it was worth it for those two weeks alone, out of the ten. As the instruction was in Picassa - that is my favourite and I have since with practice become very adept in swiftly cleaning image after image at speed. The same is true, I have no doubt, for those that were shown 'how to' using Photoshop. Photoshop is probably the more technical of the two, certainly there are more tools (such as the ability to cancel out colour cast) but is said to be less intuitive in use than Picassa.
It would appear that you are inclined towards photoshop, so I cannot help - but I am sure that if you post "help, how do I ......" or "I've done this and the result is that" there are members here you will be keen to help "how do I best do ..." questions. There are times when I go back to the original scan and wonder why I ever thought of posting it, when compared to the cleaned up and 'massaged' version. Unfortunately, post the Photobucket disaster all my before and after examples have been wiped from vision!
Good luck with your learning curve. By the way, in your images a number of the black marks are consistent across a number of shots, so have a look at just how clean your scanner is, inside and out. In much the same way as keeping your digital camera sensor plate clean, so too your flat bed scanner glass!

Quite an improvement, especially the lack of 'graining' of the sky and those distracting black marks removed. Both the more natural sky and the lack of black marks make this a much easier picture on the eye, so permitting appreciation of the aircraft part of the image.
If I am permitted a negative comment, perhaps a shade too over-sharpened. I know using Picassa the advice I was given was to advance the 'slider' until I could visually start to see the difference, then back-off a little, otherwise line between colours could start to broaden, while lettering could pixelate and show on the final image - as they just about do on my PC image. Even so a good job 'radiostationX', and a demonstration on how even a reasonable image can be significantly improved.
Think I'm going have to get Photoshop and learn how to de-grain sky and change colour cast after cleaning transparency images with Picasa first - I know I've got a batch of Speke shots in the 70s on Agfa ready to scan and clean. Kodak skies are usually much better - but then little did I know 45 years ago that I would be able to see my pictures on a TV screen, indeed not just on the TV, but one with a area 10 times bigger and much sharper too!
