Thanks. Its a bit grey here, although pockets of sun.
We get sun every day, even if its only for an hour, but never does a day pass without a bit of sun.
We go to the memorial in the village in a few minutes. Its nice that we always have a good mix of people there. French, Brits, Dutch, American and even from time to time a few Germans. For a small place of 550 its quite remarkable. After the ceremony the Mayor invites us all for a "vin d'Honneur", then we go to a local restaurant for a meal with a theme of French, British and American food. Today its Onion soup followed by roast pork with crackling and all the extras, then French cheese and American Cheesecake. Its a full public holiday here. Nice to have a good remembrance. We wear poppies. The French do not really know them but are fascinated by the idea. Few realise that it was a French lady who had the idea but the British took it to heart.

Thanks to some amazing work done by Mike (RadiostationX), and thanks to contributions by all, I now have a perfectly good scanner previously destined for the tip, working on my Windows 10 machine.
I am not surprised, but nevertheless eternally grateful, that we have persons in our group of friends that are not only experts but freely give of their time.
Great result.

Ron, Our online webinar/remote support session achieved the result we wanted and gave your Canoscan a new lease of life. Due to some jiggery pokery you have the facility of running the windows xp operating system and windows 10 OS on the same computer at the same time. I was very surprised that during the process, we had to activate the windows xp by the old method using telephone (in France) and the activation line was still open and working some 16 years after windows XP was launched. You now have the task of converting your library of 35mm slides into digital format. The canoscan is a very good performer, much better image quality than some of the current sub £250 models. I hope to see your photos right here on this forum. Pleasure to help Ron.
Mike.

What a lovely way to spend the day! I do stewarding at football matches and yesterday I was working at MK Dons. There was two minutes' silence before kick-off, which was immaculately observed by the crowd of 9000, not something you expect at a normally noisy football match, but I was proud of my fellow citizens yesterday.

Yes indeed and we look forward to seeing the results Ron, some of which will do doubt take us back in time. It's always good when forums like this can be used to the greater good. Full marks to all concerned.
