Now we have started the ball rolling with old slides, how about the thousands and thousands of black and white negatives that are out there. Here is one via John Wegg of Oscar Juliet awaiting its next assignment at our favourite airport. Bob. img282 by Bob O, on Flickr

You are quite correct Robaero it is on the old main apron, looking at the photo it shows why some people called LPL the "sardine airport" the way we packed them in on the apron!!,the tanker refuelling the DC9 is of interest to me as i used to do the refuelling amongst many other jobs on the airport,i also enjoyed the time i spent there and what away to do your hobby as well.

Here is another one sadly not as good quality of G-BEYK Herald of Euroair and G-AVMU BAC 1-11 509 series. The picture was taken in Feb 1987 during the Manchester Firemans strike, the herald was kept on the Northern Airfield due to space on the Southern Airfield If I remember correctly. 1-PD0030 by Rob Stock, on Flickr I am looking for information on the Dak in the picture, can anyone give the identify it. Thanks. 1-PD0029 by Rob Stock, on Flickr Last one is from 1991 of G-OHOT Vickers Viscount 813 of BAF along with F-GEAI Guppy again during operating from Liverpool because a dispute of some sort at Manchester, I think it may have been the Servisair dispute. 1-PD0188 by Rob Stock, on Flickr

The Dakota is the one Jim Keen acquired, N54607. After a huge amount of work, it was eventually sold and moved to Coventry. There Air Atlantique decided an even greater amount of work was required, and after a few years of storage at Coventry, if a recall correctly it was dismantled and the nose/ forward section taken to Holland.
To put some dates to the story. N54607 ex Moroccan Air Force and storage at Blackbushe, arrived at Liverpool during October 1982 for Jim Keen. A genuine D-Day Dakota is was a good selection for restoration. Some restoration work undertaken outside, but for some while the aircraft was dismantled and inside. When she reappeared she was painted in USAAF olive green, complete with D-Day stripes and named "Maggie May" - as can be seen on the photo. She departed July 1989 registered as G-BPMP to Cherkley Aviation for Coventry on what became her last flight. Ownership transferred to Atlantic Aviation December 1992 still at Coventry. Broken up April 1995 and nose departed for an Aviation Hobby Shop in Holland. Rather a sad end and a disappointing result for the man hours put in by Jim Keen and his team.

Another good batch. Note on the first of this batch, one of the ground crew waving to somebody on the balcony,on the Laker, the turning props are very well captured.

This set have the look of Saturday 9th April 1983 - Grand National Day about them. The DC-10 of B.Cal G-BJZE on a charter from London/Gatwick for the race. G-AXDH Islander for a para-drop, while King Air 200 EI-BFT was just one of a number of Irish singles and twins that day. Genair and BMA were on schedules, while the ABC Argosy was on a day-stop before nightly newspaper flights. Travel Air G-AXUX was a resident aircraft at the time. Nice set of images.
