Yes, with a revised date to work with, MAS 'Flypast' in June 1974 reported that, "Pup G-AXDU dressed in RAF markings defended the airfield against an entire squadron of the Luftwaffe's latest type - the DHC-1 Chipmunk - the three machines flying with iron crosses and swastikas. Naturally the Pup won and indulged in victory rolls to labour the point. For the record the disgraced Chipmunks were G-BAPB, G-BARS and G-BBRV".
Also in the display that year was Buccaneer S.2 XV350 (corrected), Hatfield Sea Vixen FAW.2 XJ608, Bouraq HS.748 G-BCDM, Mosquito RR299, Puss Moth G-AAZP and Tiger Moth G-ANTE flying together and HSA's private Harrier T.52 G-VTOL in sand and brown with azure blue undersides, which rather stole the show.
Looking forward to Groth's photos.

Thanks Groth - that fills a gap in my records. But I have the date as 8th June 1974 (The 6th was a Thursday) - I have records showing that G-VTOL and XJ608 refuelled on the 8th too.
The rego of the Buccaneer isn't right Viscount - XV550 was allocated to a canx Phantom order. 'twas probably XW550
cheers

'Flypast' confirms date as Saturday 8th June 1974. The Buccaneer was XV350 - my typo, sorry. It did not land.
JD - each year the MAS 'Flypast' would record what was seen at Hawarden each 'families' day. Do you want me to copy and e-mail the appropriate page, for years you don't have the details. Not sure when they started being reported, early 60s I suspect and go through to sometime 90s? My first was 1966.

G-TSAM was known as 'The Warton Hack' and was used as a comms aircraft. If I remember correctly it had about 10 seats in it! G-ICED belonged to Iceland Foods and was based at Hawarden of course. G-5-729 To USA as N679BA G-5-700 became G-BUID G-5-738 started life as G-5-539 I think G-AYRF is a mistake - can't find that one! D-CADA formerly with Aerodienst and probably taken in p/e. G-BUCR was a demo aircraft for a short time and then became I-OSLO. VH-LMP was delivered to Oz with that registration. 3D-AVL is correct. I can't confirm the exact date. Jetdragon may be able to help, but the year is definitely correct. June 26th 1992 was a Friday, so that seems unlikely. Maybe 20th which would have been a Saturday? Bizarrely, although I worked for Corporate Jets, because I was based at Hatfield, we were never invited to the Chester Open Days If I can help with anything else, let me know.

Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone remembers a number of Tridents coming too Hawarden during the mid seventies for maintenance . Can't find anything about it on the web or I may just be looking in the wrong place.
Thanks in advance
