Air Atantique Bristol170 mk31 operating a ford charter mid 80,s CTA/Air Mali Caravelle on a student charter in early eighties British Midland Boeing 707 G-BFLD,Positioned to Liverpool to operate a charter to Rome. Great photos--didn't those aircraft cause excitement at the time. You forget the hours of inactivity followed by the announcement"The aircraft approaching to land is --------" and the the scramble to get a good view and the log books. Nostalgia certainly improves with age.LOL Hope you can find some more.

Followed only by "A private Gemini from Staverton is expected to arrive at..." just when you were getting ready to go home!
Here are a few more from those days - starting with some for the military fans -The Valetta had to be one of the ugliest aircraft around in those days - this was a Coastal Command aircraft. A much better photo of the Hastings than the one I posted earlier. This Devon was a regular visitor Of the three aircraft in the series Viking/Valetta/Varsity, the Varsity did look better for having a nosewheel! I believe this is the T7 (trainer) version of the Meteor Now some civil visitors:No doubt about which runway was in use that day as this Braathens DC-3 taxis in Most of us will remember G-AILW was the usual B170 on the Dublin car ferry, but they did have another one - and here it is! This Lloyd International DC-4 was parked outside the Starways hangar, but so close to the road that it wouldn't fit into the viewfinder! Not a visitor of course, but G-APIN had just returned from service with the United Nations in what was then the Belgian Congo, and wasn't often seen with 'ONU' titles

Truly great- that's it I WILL get into my old slides boxes this month and dig out some shots-they won't be anything like as good or as interesting as those but I feel guilty not contributing. Thanks for the memories LOL AS soon as my Dahlias are planted out I will start rooting(sorry no pun intended-its the way I tell em.LOL) Love the Starways shots-as I walked up from the 89 service bus stop from StHelens they were always the first port of call on the way to the balcony.great to be so close to real aeroplanes.
