Oh yes! I know I am biased but at my age you grab any opportunity or bit of a frame as in this case. Close your eyes and you see the missing bits! Ray

John, over the years I think people have counted less than a chunk of fuselage. When we did the French trips in the 80's, especially at Orly all you could see of the Caravelles were the tips of tail fins with the last two letters of the reg on them and I am afraid they all went into the book. They have all gone now so can I claim absolution. Regards Beemer.

You just brought back a very sad memory for me there Brian. I remember as a school boy visiting Luton Airport with the ATC. Britannia Airways were phasing out their Britannia fleet at the time and scrapping them on site. Having completed a Monarch hangar tour we were standing outside on a patch of ground where many met their fate. A regular visitor to Liverpool Airport was G-ANBL and amoungst the scraps beneath my feet was part of an instrument panel with her reg on

I can remember wandering around STN, when the old fire school was there, always something lying around. Also visiting RAF Catterick, when the fire training school was there, parking up just off the old A1, and going for a nice wander into the woods.....lots of bits and bobs about in there, I just wish I'd taken pix of it all!!!

I'd have to say no. Yes I collect flyovers but I have to be able to I.D. it and it has to be withing a 20 mile exclusion zone. Back in '79 we were driving out of Orly and saw the top section of an Iberia DC10 over the terminal roof. You couldnt see the engine just the top of the tail. Iberia A/C had their regs on the top of the tail and was therefore visible. Out of the 6 people on the bus only 1 'cribbed' it. It wasnt me, and a full blown discussion/argument ensued as to the ethics of spotting.

in reply to would you log it, would not then be the case if you are a number spotter or a frame spotter ( c\n ) a number spotter collects regs, full stop. whereas a frame \ panel spotter would try as best possible to follow its history, past ( present ) and future to cut out the chances of having a cop ?. only to find out it's had so many changes it needs a page of it's own,and would that include, plastic display aircraft . lol
