It was a nice day, so a trip to the Mere was in order.I had hoped with the poor weather, especially at night, that the Barn Owl would be active as it had been recently by day. Unfortunately I was out of luck. It is good this time of the year at the Mere for seeing birds, such as the Ruff, at close quarters.It's a pity that they go off to breed elsewhere so that we don't see the fancy mating plumage of the male so close-up.
