Topical at the moment I guess - did Speke have any unusual visitors for the 1966 World Cup matches which took place at Goodison Park?

1966 WORLD CUP GAMES played at GOODISON PARK The first Super Constellations ever to visit Liverpool were on World Cup football charters in July 1966 with Brazilian supporters from Paris. More on these Connies in a thread elsewhere in this section, several pages back though entitled 'Constellations at Liverpool'. The new long runway 10/28 had only been opened in early May. So although the airport could now handle larger jets, disappointingly few charters actually operated. 12th July F-BHBI L.1049G, Air France, f&t Paris/Orly. There was also a BUA Viscount G-APTB f&t Gatwick, neither PHB's logs or 'Flypast' give any indication if this was connected with the game or not, so it robably wasn't. Result Brazil 2 - 0 Bulgaria. 15th July F-BHMI L.1049G, Air France, f&t Paris/Orly. The only other non-scheduled airliner around that day was regular Aer Turas EI-AOR C-54 Skymaster f&t Dublin. Result Hungary 3 - 1 Brazil. 19th July F-BHBI L1049G, Air France, f&t Paris/Orly. No other unusual airliners that day although British Eagle's BAC.1-11 G-ATPK first visited on the Heathrow schedule. Result Portugal 3 - 1 Brazil. 23rd July No football charters. However airliner visitors to Speke were: SE-CNG DC-7 of Internord from Helsinki to Malmo was notable, also G-ALAL L.749 Constellation of Ace Freighters from Dublin to Gatwick (with mail), PH-MAK DC-7 of MAC f&t Dublin (Aer Lingus sub-charter) and EI-AOR DC-4 of Aer Turas f&t Jersey on a Cambrian sub-charter. Quarter-final result Portugal 5 - 3 Korea DPR. 25th July Bolkow 207 D-EHLA (first visit of type) arrived via Netherthorpe on 24th, leaving on 26th for Dusseldorf. On 25th Queen Air 65 D-ILSU f&t Frankfurt, Queen Air 80 D-ILBA f&t Munich, G-ATFO HS.125 from Cologne/Bonn to Heathrow and D-EMWO Job 15 (fv of type) f&t Southend, leaving on 26th. Semi-final result West Germany 2 - 1 Soviet Union. So only 3 airliner charters, 1 biz-jet, 2 twins and 2 singles for the 5 games. However did bring 3 types new to Liverpool! www.wikipedia.com provided details of dates, games and results.
