We booked for September 2020, pre Civod, a trip to Vienna and Budapest. Out Nantes - Vienna Volotea. Return Budapset - Nantes. Transavia,
In fact we are not too keen on this trip any more, for obvious reasons.
It seems because we booked pre Covid, we will not benefit from any of the post Covid cancellation options, such as refunds or vouchers. Furthermore, if we booked the Volotea today not only would we have good cancellation options but the fares would be about 50% less.
So some good news last night. The Transavia return is cancelled, by Transavia, and my refund is already on its way.
Unless Volotea cancel their segment in the next few weeks it looks like I am going to be out of pocket for the outbound trip for the two of us. I doubt if this is a valid reason for a claim on our travel insurance, and it is not a fortune to lose, ….. I expect I am one of many in this situation and some with a lot more to lose than me.

That must be hugely frustrating Ron. One possible upside of you booking so long ago, is that if you have an annual travel policy you should at least still be covered for Covid-related stuff. I presume that the travel advice in France says that travel to Hungary and Austria is permissible?

Brilliant. Some good news yesterday. My flight from Nantes to Vienna, with Volotea, has been cancelled, so I am not out of pocket at all. I had the option of a voucher worth 120% of my booking but elected to take my money and run.
