Following BA's announcement last month that their Boeing 747 fleet would be retiring with immediate effect, many aircraft found themselves stored at the BA maintenance facility at Cardiff. As I was driving past that way for work at the end of last month I called in to photograph the 14 or so 747's parked up.
2 out of the 3 retro jumbo's are stored at Cardiff, G-BNLY in the Landor livery and G-BYGC in the BOAC livery. The 3rd, G-CIVB in the Negus colours remains at Heathrow.
Sadly both were parked too close to the fence for photos..

They seemed to be lacking engine covers so a bit of improvisation with some plastic screening and tape!

A short drive around to the South-side of the airfield gives an impressive sight

The rest of the fleet is spread between Heathrow, Kemble and Spain. I visited Kemble the following week which I'll get round to posting soon.
Thanks for looking
