APRIL & MAY 2020 - JLA VISITING AIRCRAFT MOVEMENTS
A strange two months forced upon us by the Covid-19 pandemic. Passenger flights limited to Loganair who operated throughout; Wideroe to early May and the final Wizzair rotations in April and a limited early return by Wizzair in late May.
EasyJet and Ryanair exercised their stored aircraft and there was a fair bit of coming and going as aircraft were swopped around. The flying clubs were silenced, however a few light aircraft occasionally ventured out to keep their pilot's current.
The airport's open hours were adjusted to suit the few passenger schedule flights that operated. While ATC was kept staffed for emergencies, there was no fire cover when the airport was closed. For a period even the terminal was closed, the very limited number of passenger to and from the Isle of Man and Bergen using XLS facilities.
The Ryanair and EasyJet's swopping around of stored aircraft are included in the movements, to make some days look busier. The Woodgate Navajo and then uprated to King Air aircraft health patient's flights, are included, as they would normally.
As normal, resident aircraft don't appear in the Visiting Aircraft movements, unless there was a noteable reason to include them. The result is a great number of very 'thin' days - but there are a few good ones too - usually helped by a good dose of miltary activity. It just shows how total the travel ban was applied, but bear in mind every day (except Saturdays) there were the Loganair Isle of Man connection operating.
