Although living far away and I dont the intimate knowledge of the day to day goings on at Liverpool I once used to have, I'm with Liverpoolman 1
However, being optimistic, I like the idea of the Ryanair/Easyjet stranglehold being lessened, just a little.

Isn't this just FlyBe capitalising on the fact that Ryanair are pulling out of BHD because they won't/can't extend the runway? There has been a connection to Belfast for more than 50 years, so there's nothing special about that. If FlyBe pull off after 6 months, somebody else will take it over. Of course it's good to have as many operators as possible, but I'm with Liverpoolman and Ron on this one.

Last time when flybe started to op from LPL they expected to compete with the likes of BA connect,When they ended up absorbing BA con then they took the decision to pull out of LPL and concetrate on their new ops up the road.
This time they know that the LPL-BHD market will not transfer to MAN but will use easy out of BFS,so they are hoping for a share of this massive market (approx 1/2 million a year).
So I trust they will hang around this time (as they have done on the IOM route) and if not someone else will take up the opportunity.

Interesting argument popping up here Looking from a historic point of view I can see where Ron and Garstonboy are coming from but having said that, usually when an airline pulls out it tends to stay out. FlyBe have made significant investment in Manchester (MAN) and therefore it would have made better economic sense for them to have put these services into MAN. The Ryanair experiment has proved a market for the Liverpool route above that of MAN and therefore, I see this as a move more to protect FlyBe's own backside from would be competitors. On that note, I would say its a strategic move and as such say that, not only will it stay but, it will be capitalised upon. So, I'm with Midland500 on this one.

For the three month period of March to May, flyBEs pax numbers grew by 91%.

A year ago only IoM, this year IoM and Belfast City. Around double the flights, around double the pax.
LPL, it would help the casual observer if you could include a brief commentary to your figures, especially when there is a large increase or decline noted. Nearly always the reason is in the raw data you are producing the figures from, but not everyone has that knowledge to draw on.

Nearly always the reason is in the raw data you are producing the figures from, but not everyone has that knowledge to draw on. In the four months that I have collated I have said in the first line that the figures come from the confirmed stats as issued by the CAA and that is then put into a spreadsheet with info regards to the schedules.

LPL - you have made many unqualified statements on percentage figures for routes from LJLA within the last few days. Without qualifying statements they are bound to cause the sort of reaction that I had. Huge percentage increases make people question your information while huge percentage decreases cause people not only concern but the beginning of doubts as to the credibility of your figures. A small comment to accompany the stats would eliminate any doubts.

LPL - as MAN was mentioned in the preceeding message the qualifying statement could have been "From Liverpool.......". And the small comment? "Includes Belfast City previously flown by FR". Seems simple enough to me.

LPL - as MAN was mentioned in the preceeding message Granted but 10 months apart. For the want of repeating myself to make a statement/comment I need schedules from last year.
