WHAT!!!!!!!! So Flybe are going to kick LIverpool in the teeth again, are they? Having moved in with big promises years ago they then de-camped to Manchester. Now having built up the business to Belfast City they again de-camp to Manchester. I know there is no sentiment in business, but they do take the biscuit. I just hope that Easyjet see an opportunity here, open a route to Belfast City AND kick them off the I-O-M route.

Their online timetable seems to suggest the last day is Sun 6th Nov....

I think the LPL-Belfast market will be one to watch in the next few months. With BE gone and Easyjet opening a twice daily BFS up the road in less than a month, it will be interesting

One Hundred Additional Weekly Flights from Belfast City Airport

Welcoming the announcement Tourism Minister Arlene Foster said: “I congratulate the Airport operator for acting quickly to fill these routes, which were vacated by Ryanair. Flybe is an airline that has shown long-term commitment to Northern Ireland and today's announcement confirms their continued investment here.

“The development of direct, convenient and competitive access services is critical to achieving tourism growth and strategic targets. Great Britain is a key source market for Northern Ireland tourism and Tourism Ireland has an exceptionally strong promotional programme under way this year, to restore tourism growth from this all-important market. Tourism Ireland will be working with Flybe in Great Britain to maximise the promotion of these new routes.”

Katy Best, Business Development Director at George Best Belfast City Airport said, “We knew there was significant demand for the routes vacated and we’re pleased to finalise an agreement with Flybe on three routes. Shares in UK carrier Flybe dropped 37 percent on the London Stock Exchange after Europe's largest regional airline said there was a significant slowdown in sales across its UK domestic network in September.

I was thinking about loss of domestic links yesterday, with Eastern going, now read about BE dropping BHD route. Doesnt look good, particularly as LPL city so poorly connected to other UK cities with rail. The only other UK domestic carrier I could think of was Manx2
