Have had a couple of messages asking what the latest news is from Hooton Park The last couple of saturdays have been spent preparing the south bay of hangar 16 (the rebuilt one) for the arrival of the five Aeroplane Collection aircraft from the soon to be vacated Aviation hall at MOSI..... The floor of the bay is now 2/3 primed and painted and some of the aircraft in storage already at Hooton can now be dusted off and moved onto the clean area..the first of these Auster G-AJEB has already moved across ....the aircraft from MOSI should be on site by end of November....G-EBZM Avro Avian returning after approx 90 years ...many on here will know that ZM was the catalyst for the aircraft preservation scene in the UK after being saved from burning at Ringway in early 60s by Merseyside enthusiasts ...see the excellent article by Viscount and others in the history section of NWAN for more detail ...if anybody wants pictures of the progress I can recommend joining The Aeroplane Collection Facebook page..or why not become a member of TAC...google The Aeroplane Collection website for details etcp Interesting times ahead ... Ian All on hold at the moment but would anticipate there will be events next year for the Diamond Anniversary of The Aeroplane Collection ...the winter months will be spent getting both the hangar and aircraft exhibits ready for visitors next year....
