With regards to your enquiry I don't think there is anything we can do as there is no copyright. I have sent a request to ProBoards for clarification on the matter and await their reply. Regards Admin.

Prompted by this discussion, I had a look at the Facebook page using the same name. I don't think we have anything to worry about.
A comment on that page asking the person to change the name might be fruitful, and if not, a complaint to Facebook.

One of the reasons this topic has not previously been aired by Admin, is that Ron did exactly what we did not wish to encourage - members actually going to those pages to see what is there and giving the name copy-cat the encouragement of more visitors! By even having this thread we are giving that site kudos. "Airbus A340" has unwittingly done an excellent publicity job for him.
I feel NWAN is big enough and so well established as not to be under threat by an imposter. Having two NWANs is only a real problem when people are attempting to Google with NWAN or North West Air News as key words to find us. It could be a legal matter if they fraudulently use our good name as North West Air News as a means to access information, airfield access or repeat information from here without due credit.

Viscount, I had no intention of giving the imposter publicity. As I said, I raised this issue and the question of NWAN copyright PRIVATELY many months ago as it was of concern.
It would have been nice, and courteous to have received a reply PRIVATELY.

Although only entered a couple of days ago, there is an answer to your question of February publicly on the rotating 'header bar' of the front page of the Forum. I do still need to deal with your PM regarding G-AOVO though.
I'll likely delete this thread tonight for the reason given in my earlier post above unless provided with reason why not.

Thanks, my main concern was copyright violation of the 'NWAN' name. Section 20c of the Terms of Service is hard to decipher as its in "legal talk". Please let me know what feedback results from Beemers enquiry with Proboards. If it is an issue I can then have a polite word with the person (imposter) concerned.

Just had a quick look, nothing to be bothered about, poor quality, keep up the good work Brian and the Mods.

With regards to the alternative "Forums" there are two other versions and I spoke to the Admin of one of of them yesterday and he assures me he has abandoned it and is no longer active. As Samba says the other is not worth bothering about with no historical interest at all, just shaky videos. So Viscount and I have decided to just ignore and let it fade away while the real North West Air News grows from strength to strength. NWAN Admin.
