Sorry if I am a bit dense and have missed something in recent announcements? I see that aeroflot is banned from EU space but what about other airlines? I have also been expecting a ban on engine and avionics parts for aircraft. And the there is the question of Russian aircraft with Western regs such as VP. I don't want to start a thread on for or against sanctions..just wondering what I have missed.

From a newsfeeds site, this is the text of the NOTAM which seems indeed to address some of the concerns raised above: img-s-msn-com.akamaized.net/tenant/amp/entityid/AAUgrYM.img?h=1080&w=1920&m=6&q=60&o=f&l=fOn a local level, it would appear that we have likely seen the last of the Nordwind, Redwings and Ural Airlines flights - although it appears they could still be authorised by the Sec. of State for Air under the exemptions clause. Just as well that the UK's requirement for PPE and self-testing must be decreasing as the Omicron peak is fading.

If Europe, by which I mean geographical Europe, not the EU, bans flights by Aeroflot, (which I very much doubt) and they cannot fly, they will find it difficult to pay the leases, and the lessors will want the aircraft back. This of course, is why they are registered in British overseas territories. Well all I can say is good luck to any crews who try to recover them!

Interestingly there are also 2 Turkish A400’s on the ground in Kiev
It’s about time that more countries banned flights to/from Russia

Although it hasn’t visited LJLA, Nordwind 77W VP-BJP is reported as seized by the lessor in Mexico. More to follow if they stray outside Russia.

Have I missed something, but I thought all Russian planes and airlines are banned from European airspace. This il76 is just about to enter Polish air space so are they only banning passenger flights or have I got it all wrong

It is likely that this is one of these flights.

Thanks for letting me know spitfire. I was just wondering if they had broke the no fly zone rule like they did a few days ago in Canada.

I see freight being loaded onto aeroplanes bound for Ukraine. On TV this morning a load of humanitarian aide gifted by Wales, presumably from Cardiff. And we know lots of other stuff is headed there such as ammo. and military defensive aid. So the obvious questions. To where is it flying and under what kind of laws or permissions, for want of a better word, are these flights operating ?

In the top left of my picture with the il76 you can see ZZ172 C17 of the RAF this was on its way back from Rzeszow airport in Poland. Boris was on the news the other night at Brize Norton with a C17 getting loaded up with aid. So it's likely it was doing another aid flight as this is one of the main places where they are crossing the boarder into Poland aswell. This is how near to krakow Rzeszow Airport is. I hope this has been of some use to you

Yes, Rzeszow Airport is as close as you can get to Ukraine at the moment. There is a corridor from there to Lviv, from where the distribution takes place. Two flights a day to Rzeszow Airport from Brize at the moment and loads of stuff from other countries going in there. It must currently be one of the busiest airports in Europe - a spotter's paradise! Quite an impressive airport: link
