Chipmunk cockpit section "Chippax" WP978 was seen in hangar 16 yesterday ....she is an ex Hooton Park resident
Progress report
Applications have been made for the Comper Swift and Auster Antarctic from Cosford and this has needed temperature and humidity readings being taken as part of the application process ...fingers crossed ...
There is an open day on Saturday 14th May 10.00 16.00 which it is hoped will include A Merlin and a Cheetah engine run (s).....1940s re enactors .. more details nearer the time admission will be £5 Children under 16 free
Then open days will be on the last Sunday of the month or by prior request etc.
Latest developments at Hooton are ...fitting a ramp for disabled acccess to toilets ...building an entrance area complete with balcony inside the museum hangar and lots of weed and moss clearing to make the site more presentable...the hangar is also being rendered and new guttering is to be fitted...
The stored aircraft will probaably not be on view on the open day so the planned visits for aviation groups who would like to see everything are still in the pipeline ...again as soon as I get the green light I will let those who have shown an interest have the details ...
Thank you for your patience but when you see the improvements we think you will agree it was worth it!
regards Dave
