Sincerely hope not many people were tempted to attend on the strength of the Black Eagles participation. Whilst you have to be appreciative of their attendance, and more so perhaps the shows organisers in securing them, in my opinion, what could have been a great warm up for Fairford next weekend, was pretty much the most underwhelming display I've seen in many a year at an airshow. Blink, and you missed them. I think I counted four passes.
It might have been limited slot time, other sea-side restrictions , who knows, but it was mightily disappointing for such a class and rare act visiting these shores.
Luckily for me ,only a ten minute walk, and I suspect the general public will go home satisfied with a "day out", but for the enthusiast, pretty much a non-event imho.
Tiffy put on a decent after-burner filled display, and the Spit/Tiffy duo was special. Other than that, the gyro-copter was thrown about insanely, but I even thought the Reds a bit tame??
Maybe it's just me

I wonder whether the cloud base was too low for them. All of their manoeuvres were in the horizontal. Maybe tomorrow there will be a longer display - weather permitting..

A couple photos of the Black Eagles, nice to see but very much like the Red Arrows to-day not a bit like the fantastic display at RIAT 2012. The best display of the day was the Spitfire and the Typhoon, fabulous. I have taken that many photos it will take till a week on Wednesday to sort them. Beemer. Hello Dave / Brian.
At about 14:45 today whilst in the garden the lancaster went north bound over Runcorn then a few minutes later the Korean team went directly overhead not trailing at a rough guess of about between 10 and 15 thousand feet southbound and difficult to see but very loud. So I would say they must climb away quickly and get a routing southbound from Southport towards the Crewe area. So tomorrow at about 14:45 if they do the same they should cross our area between Hale and The old Runcorn Bridge soutbound fingers crossed. I am not sure which direction they arrive from for the start of the display. Cheers, Paul

Surprise item - The Norwegian MiG-15 two seater LN-MIG has been repainted in USAF markings - those of a North Korean MiG that defected sept 1953 and was then flown in the USA (until a RAF pilot made a heavy landing....it was then only restored to static display. It may be my imagination but i thought the aircraft were a bit further away than on my last visit? Again I would, totally underwhelmed by the Black Eagles today. I remember them at RIAT, 2012 and they were brilliant. As a Southport resident, have seen both days and just the same today, in fact today a lot of the time they were above cloud.

A sample from Saturday's event. Blimmin' cold on that beach yesterday with the wind blowing in from the sea. As an observation it was pointless buying tickets as all could be seen while sitting on the grass outside the ticket gate as there were no static as such other than BS435, plastic Spitfire. Thank you for all the reports. I attended on Saturday and sat in a steady wind for about three hours being gently sandblasted!! Not a "vintage" show as others have pointed out: half strength "Blades", seven Arrows and since when is one "Black Cat" a "team" ?! Enjoyed the Spitfire / Typhoon duo. Wonder if someone can fill in some I/Ds for me please? Pitts, gyrocopter, Grob, Blades and "22" the Arrows commentator's "taxi". PR Spitfire, BBMF Spitfire & Hurricane. Thank you in anticipation...
