Interesting photograph of the former north airfield in all her glory. Most certainly after May 1966 and construction of the new runway (then 10/28) and the three finger aprons. Two of these 'fingers' were combined in 1971 to permit at Boeing 707 enter, turn under power and self exit, this can clearly be seen on the photo. By the end of the 70's decade some of the buildings down towards the river began to be demolished, although most went in the early '80s. During 1983 the north airfield runways were closed and marked with an 'X' at the thresholds. So the date is somewhere after 1971 and before around 1978/79. Good find Frank. There are more aerial views of Liverpool Airport collected on: derbosoft.proboards.com/thread/16388/dates-directors-ceos-rwys-airlinesInterestingly it is not the same as the colour shot included in the above thread - but likely taken around the same time, not impossibly on the same occasion.
