Worth recording than 60 years ago today, the prototype DH.125 G-ARYA flew for the first time at Hatfield, the first of 2 aircraft assembled there before production was transferred to Broughton. 13 August 1962.

...and what a great aircraft it turned out to be! As is so often the case with things which turn out to be something special, the initial reaction to the aircraft, on this side of the Atlantic at least, was lukewarm, but after a few gruelling demo tours, the orders began to roll in, such that at one point we were selling a new aircraft every ten days.
The full story has been written by yours truly, along with a number of incidents which occurred with the aircraft, and lots of photographs, in a book which is to be published in the next few weeks, called '125 - The Jet Dragon that Roared'.
