A small worry compared with other places. I am getting very concerned about the future of Ryanair ops at La Rochelle, my local. After more than 20 years there are no winter flights to UK and there are no flights bookable for the whole of 2023. Furthermore, all the other routes normally operated by Ryanair from LRH are not bookable for 2023.
EasyJet have marginally increased their offering for 2023 but it will leave a very big hole if Ryanair have decided to pull the plug. Of course, there is still time, but all the neighbouring airports have their flights bookable. LRH still appears on the drop down for all destinations, but not bookable on the calendar pages.

The only time I've flown from there, FlyBE, there was a lot of promotion about opening a new, bigger, airport, further out, leaving the current one open only for GA traffic (Biz-jets of the rich). Is that still intended?

Some local politicians in the Charante Maritime Department would like to exploit Rochefort as the airport for the area. This is partly an attempt at vote winning, as the argument seems to come up about every 4 years.
The idea has some merit because the runway at Rochefort is longer and benefits from excellent approaches at each end. On the other hand there is no significant infrastructure, the distance from La Rochelle city and especially the Isle de Ré is quite far and the road very congested in summer. There has been a study to build a fast bus route but it would use land designated as bird sanctuary.
The two airports come under the management of "Syndicat Mixte des Aéroports de La Rochelle – Ile de Ré, et Rochefort – Charente-Maritime"
If this proposal took effect, LFBH would close completely as it is coveted by developers. I think nothing will change.
Rochefort was used as the airport for La Rochelle way back in the winter of 2005/2006 whilst LFBH was closed for runway extension to accommodate Ryanair 737-800s. Portacabins were thrown up and removed afterwards. It was used by Ryanair and the predecessor of HOP. Rochefort even appeared as a destination on the Ryanair web site.
Since I first posted this thread, almost the last in their whole network Ryaniar have just released their winter schedule which is more or less the same as this year with a small reduction in flights to Stansted. (Easy jet have significantly increased their schedule from Gatwick)
