Disagree, I am certain that there is an FA rule/obligation to be at within a specific distance of the fixture ground 24 hours before KO placed on Premiership Clubs for domestic League games, not just by EUFA for European matches. Requests for the rule to be waived are granted when that requirement is difficult to meet eg Boxing Day fixtures or regular transport means are unavailable the day before. Because lower division clubs are involved for whom overnight stays may be prohibitively costly, the Premiership 24-hour rule does not apply to Cup competitions. Even so, Clubs in lower divisions can be fined by the FA for not being at the venue in time to be ready for the kick-off. While I think for Premiership matches the requirement is to show that there was an intention to be there 24 hours in advance should there be unforeseen delays, which is why there is no big fuss over fines or penalties when team departures are slightly delayed, as any delays the day before are unlikely to affect the teams preparedness for being at the ground in plenty of time.

Some Premiership teams use their team coach to get to the match the day before the game, then fly home afterwards - particularly from an evening match. Everton FC do this several times a season, Liverpool FC less often. Just because the aircraft does not arrive until the day of the match, does not mean the team did so too. Also, Newcastle may have a partial exemption from the rule, as for them virtually every game is over, say, 100 miles/2 hour by road distant unlike the NW, Midlands or London region clubs.

Eastern use positioning flight numbers. They didn't use them on Dec 7th.
