Today, two British Airways 747's (en-route to Heathrow, I think) and an Singapore Airlines A380 (en-route to either Singapore or Heathrow) flew over Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

Beemer the Aer Arran BN-2 was also in Manchester today departed about 1320 missed that one. I always thought they were an Aer Lingus commutor

Alex, to try and answer your question about long haul overflights in this area, check out the web sites that are radar type ie. Planefinder.com or Casper via a Google search. You will see that the area around Liverpool and Wirral are probably one of if not the busiest cross sections in the UK for incoming and outgoing long haul flights some of which will never touch UK soil.
