A very great shame. The story goes right back to 2nd March 1963 when PA-22 Colt G-ARGO was delivered to Jim Keen on the formation of his Liverpool Aero Club. Although through several name changes, the company has been operated continually by the Keen family at Liverpool Airport for 61 years.
There is a history of the company elsewhere on NWAN, but is currently without most photos and the text and tables have not been updated for 10 years. I'll have to do something about that this weekend.

Oh Dear. That is sad. I learned to fly there when the only machine was G-ARGO. Very fond memories. I guess there might be quite a few newbies who would appreciate the background. Does this event include the loss of KEENAIR?

Thanks Brian, you information is always appreciated. Nice to have some background, or history lesson as some might call it.

Does this event include the loss of KEENAIR? As far as I am aware, Keenair maintenance is still fully operational, just Liverpool Flying School has stopped trading as a flight school

Whilst I never obtained my PPL due to being medically grounded, all 18 hours in my logbook are in LFS-registered aircraft. A sad day indeed.

Could anyone update the situation re the demise of LFS please? Have the aeroplanes gone/been sold etc? Is the hangar still in use? Anyone come in, in its place?

Could anyone update the situation re the demise of LFS please? Have the aeroplanes gone/been sold etc? Is the hangar still in use? Anyone come in, in its place? The situation is very vague and in limbo. The hangar is still in use and full of aircraft, both LFS and privately owned, apart from G-OLFT AC114 which was up for sale and has since departed. The staff car parking area has been empty apart from Mrs. Keens car - so I am presuming everyone has been 'laid off'. As for the future no one seems to know what is happening, rumours persist we will have to wait and see π€

I see one of the private residents who was "locked-in", G-OZJX PA-28-161 Warrior II flew to CEG this morning, maybe looking for a new home to hangar his plane. I see he has returned so maybe out for a jolley.

I see he has returned so maybe out for a jolley. G-CPTM PA-28, G-YAWW / N2943D / N66MS PA-28Rs and G-WOOO CZ Cruiser all noted on 'jollies' at Sleap this morning. Access to their aircraft doesn't appear to be an issue.
