I am one of those people stranded in Dublin after the chaos of yesterday. I had two Ryanair flights to Liverpool cancelled yesterday but have nothing but praise for the Ryanair Service Desk staff who were doing their best in a difficult situation.
By sharp contrast Dublin Airport Authority were a complete shambles especially when they closed the airport at 7.30pm, cancelling all flights, leading to thousands of people trying leave at the same time. The baggage reclaim area resembled a refugee camp and it took two and a half hours to get out of the terminal!

There looks like there could be other routes still to be loaded to Bratislava, Krakow, Rimini, Stockholm and Szczecin. Bratislava, Krakow and Szczcin are now on sale.

Bratislava is 3 flights per week operating Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The schedules for Rimini and Stockholm Skavsta have yet to be uploaded.

I was checking the Dublin Airport web site for my collegues Ryr 445 due out 26th after the fiasco at LPJL on Thursday when it was cancelled and I came across this little gem of a paragraph about Ryanair from the Dublin operators.

Sounds like even Dublin is having problems with them also.

Don't know the chronology of the posts, but suspect the above quote is the DAA's reply to a Press Release published on the Ryanair Website www.ryanair.com/en/news . Certainly Ryanair's is an opposite viewpoint to that of the DAA quoted by Biggles. Oddly, somehow Ryanir's frustration, despite the political sideswipes, comes through (to me anyway) as more genuine that the DAA's multi repeated plea of safety first.

Viscount, all I know is that my collegue felt she and the other pax on the Thurs RYR445 where treated in an appauling way, having been delayed and left sitting on the aircraft for over 2 hours with the doors open freezing cold, that coming from someone who is a very regular traveller to Dublin on this flight, she tells me that at Dublin it is normal to queue for a gate only to find at the very last moment the gate is changed, non of this is the best way to treat passengers. The owner does seem to be able to wind people up at the silghtest opportunity. Xmas seems no different. Would be nice if 2011 this airline and its owner did what it does fly passengers and left out the mouthy gimmicks and moves that annoy or upset people.

The problem was that Dublin kept giving eta's that the runway would be open in 30 minutes, and then when the 30 minutes was up they said it would be closed for another 30 minutes and so it went on for a couple of hours until the DAA announced that Dublin Airport would be closed until 20:30, which then changed to 23:00 and finally 6am the following morning.
If Ryanair had been told of a 30 minutes delay, then it was wise to keep the passengers on the aircraft as to disembark the aircraft and then board again would take longer than the 30 minute delay indicated by the DAA.
I regularly travel to Dublin and have fortunately never had a gate change, however it is the DAA that instigates the gate changes, not Ryanair.
I am sure it was not Ryanair's intention to cancel your friends flight, and they acted, I believe, in good faith. I don't think MOL woke up one morning and thought lets have a snowstorm at Dublin Airport, close Dublin's runway, board an aircraft at Liverpool with 189 passengers, keep them on board for over two hours, and then cancel the flight so he could wind people up.
Ryanair has a fairly good record when you consider how many passengers and flights they operate each day.
I find some of Ryanair's mouthy gimmicks mildly amusing and if people get annoyed or upset at Ryanair press releases then they should get a life. There are a lot more important things in life to get annoyed about.

Information; correct information; is the key to good customer service. Passing the correct information along the staff chain is the mark of good management and delivering it correctly to the customer is the mark of a professional staff member (or agency staff member) I cite in Biggles' reply #24

If I was among the passengers and told this I would be mad as hell. If I was told that the flight could not operate because of weather, airport closure etc, I would be less mad.

The lack of an early LPL-DUB flight on weekdays is a major blow. No more day trips to Dublin on these days. The spotters will be happy to see Dublin based aircraft again.
