A wonderful selection of British military aircraft 'Viscount'. All the produce of our once great aircraft industry (even the Spey powered F-4).
I particularly like the 23 Squadron Lightning.
Happy days

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 'Avro 748' in post #3 has beaten me to posting 1983 Air Show photos. My best shots are mostly of the same aircraft in the static, so I have selected mostly different aircraft to illustrate, but in so doing some are into sun, so less than ideal. Once again, these photos have been digitised from Fuji transparencies and posted by Beemer on behalf of Brian Jones. There can be no doubt that the Sea Vixen is an impressive aircraft. XS587 the sole Sea Vixen D.3 in drone high viz yellow/red colours. Rare at Air Displays other than at Valley, from RAE Llanbedr came this pair of a Meteor D.16 WH453/L and Sea Vixen D.3. Contrasting schemes on two R.A.F. Phantoms At the other end of the scale, G-BCGH a Nord NC.854S, one of the more unusual civilian visitors. Canberra TT.18 WJ680/CT of 360 Sqdn. Draken Sk-35XD AT-151 was provided by the Danish Air Force The USAF provided several types, including this A-10A Thunderbolt II from the 81st TFW.

Always a sight and sound to savor, the arrival of the Battle of Britain Flight for their display slot. Phantom XV494/M of 56 Sqdn, doing what Phantoms do best, going like stink. One could speculate around just how close the windows of Rhosneigr and Tredarder Bay came to being shattered. Rumbling around with an agility that belies both size and age, Shackleton AEW.2, WL790 with 8 Sqdn. In the '80s the Hercules was a regular Air Display performer, as well as supporting the 'Red Arrows' team and as a drop aircraft for the 'Falcons' parachute display team. XV307 A 'party piece' on the landing roll of the Jaguar was to maintain a 'high alpha' position, a more difficult manoeuver in the Jaguar than a fly-by-wire F-16. The ASR demonstration showed the agility of the 22 Sqdn Wessex HAR.2 XV724 off to the camera. An unexpected flypast was provided by 4 Alpha Jets of the West German Air Force. Hercules departing. Apoligies from me there are a few marks on the photos. I thought I had cleaned the slides but static got the better of me.Beemer.

Ian much as I would like to take credit for the photos I was only the up-loader as the slides belong to Viscount who hasn't got the facilities to scan. I am sure Viscount will be pleased when he reads this. Regards Beemer.

To add a more recent element to the thread, some taken during a VAS Open Day in 2007...typically, the weather was cold, windy and dark for the most part! Cheers Alex

Wow! A Victor arriving at Valley. :-) Thats rare. I remember that airshow. My grandad was the green keeper on Valleys golf course and I was there with him (I was 10!) we had to take the flag down on the 7th green as the wings of the Victor would have clipped it as it taxied back to the VAS pan!!
