Hello Chris.
XX309 was one of two to wear the scheme (i think XX205 was the other). It has been in storage at Shawbury since its arrival on 15-02-06.
Cheers
Shaun

Photographed in the dunes in 1994, was this sad looking F-4, XT895. Anyone on here know what eventually happened to it?

The cockpit of XT895 was last reported being used as a GI aid in Spain.

xt895 was chopped up for scrap by a scrap metal merchant after they had dragged it back across the airfield to outside the small blister hangar by TACAN hill. I remember, as a child being devistated seeing them chopping it up. The Black tail was laying in the grass and I would love to have had it. In the end, as I was on my bike, I managed to persuade them to let me have a small bit of one of the flaps which I kept for years but sadly seem to have lost it. Rumour has it that the aircraft shot it self while on MPC, the missile came off the rails and collided with the aircraft causing serious damage and as the F4 was being retired from the RAF, it was stripped of spares and left for the fire section as a training aid to evecuate full weight manakins from the cockpit.
This post seems to have gone quiet of late. Just wondering if there is any more Valley history out there as its fascinating!!
