I was beginning to think that Dave Kelly was the only spotter on the I O M then we had Marquis, Smeager and now a young lady spotter, Sitel. Welcome to the Forum. Regards Beemer.

Looks like the increase in spotters in/ or on the I.O.M is a bit like the H1N1 virus, it`s becoming contageious, but far more beneficial. ? WELCOME to the asylum folks.

There are a fair few could spots around Ronaldsway:
1- Aeroclub Restraunt: Possibly the best place on the airfield, at the end of the Derbyhaven Road. Here there is a good view for movements on runway 26, with the light with you until about 3pm. 2- Turky Lands, this is on the opposite side of rwy 26, on the road down to 'the quarry'. With good light during the evenings and an oppertunity to get quite close to taxiing aircraft. From here you are just abive the fence hight so there no need to stand on anything or reach up from here. 3- Terminal and hangars: The new fence is quite awkward compared to the old one, but I can still fit my camera lense through, if needs must then you may have to try and reach up a bit higher here. However you can see all aircraft parked on the main apron and around hangars quite easily. 4- Museum: The airport museum is between taxiway A and the Airport-Castletown Road, on the north side of the field. From here you can get biz jets parked on 'Area Victor' and aircraft departing/ approaching on Runway 08 with Aircraft often holding at A9 just alongside the museum. At the moment there are only a couple of benches to stand on but hopes are that a proper platform will be built so that you can view over the fence. The problem here is that you are for thye afternoon, facing the sun. The museum is only open Saturday/Sunday (and TT Week!), however the gate is often open to go into.
As for Airlines Manx 2 and Flybe are the big operators. Manx2 have a interesting fleet but with Flybe it's just Dash 8s. Aer Arann operate Dublin and London City services, normally with ATR42/72s, however the LCY route has been ran by Dornier 328s up until the end of December. Loganair operate under Flybe with their Saab 340s about 3 or 4 times a day.
