This Airfield was built after a WW2 Bomber pilot made an emergency landing on farmland, which turned out to the perfect place to build it. Aircraft tested there included the Viking, Viscount, Valiant, Vanguard, BAC 111 and VC10. The airfield was closed in 1973 and has remained abandoned ever since, it is visable on Google Earth. The runway 10/28 and taxiways are still there but sadly no buildings.
